The Stone at Tel Zayit

According to the New York Times, this past July archaeologists found a stone embedded in a wall at Tel Zayit, Israel, that contains the earliest known specimen of the Hebrew alphabet. According to the lead archaeologist, "all successive alphabets in the ancient world, including the Greek one, derive from this ancestor at Tel Zayit."
